    Some things are just hard to wrap your head around Some things are just hard to wrap your head around. Mt. Meron on Lag Baomer. Hundreds of thousands of Jews, every strain, every color. No part of the global Jewish community unaccounted for. Every time I’m there I wonder "is this what it’s going to be like when Mashiach comes?" Lag Baomer is the day of the annual pilgrimage to the tomb of the “Rashbi” in Meron. R’ Shimon Bar Yochai, the author of the “Zohar” lived over 2000 years ago, the day of his death, Lag Baomer, is a day of celebration as it’s the day of Rashbi’s greatest revelation to the world, the book of the Zohar, the great work on the ‘secrets’ of the Torah. It's considered a tremendous day of joy and celebration in the Jewish calendar. Until last night. The news out of Israel was jarring. Unimaginable. Shocking. I’ve walked those pathways so many times, holding hands and dancing with thousands of my brothers, celebrating the light and hope of the world. Those pathways, always filled with joy and dancing, now turned to pathways of tragedy. Pathways that will forever now be associated with death and catastrophe. It’s so painful. 45 souls. 45 families ripped apart. Children now orphans, wives now widows. A night of light and hope turned into such darkness. How do I wrap my head around this? I heard someone say - these pathways resemble the aorta of the heart. The Tomb of the Rashbi is the pulsating heart and these pathways leading to and from represent the different arteries of the heart. The Jewish people, WE, had a heart attack. One of our arteries clogged. Wherever we are, whether we’ve been to Meron or never even heard of it, this is our tragedy. Our internal and personal pain. This was not anti semitism where we can take to our social media accounts and post statements about hate crime and race issues. This is just tragedy. Just Jewish pain. There’s no blame to place, no fingers to point, no statements to make. It’s Jewish suffering. All we’re meant to do is cry along with our people. The men, women and children who’s lives are forever broken. The hundreds who are still fighting for their lives at this moment. All we can do is feel their pain, cry and pray. Cont in comments..
